If you want a really durable camera, get a pro level SLR or DSLR. They are built like tanks.
If you want to shoot moving subjects, a camera with built in stabilization (like the Minolta) or with stabilized lenses (Canon or Nikon) may be the way to go. There is an advanced compact digital camera model or two out there as well. (Konica comes to mind)
Also remember, that digital cameras are CAMERAS. Video is a secondary feature. If video quality is really important to you, you may want to buy a video recorder seperately.
