    Kodak LS 443

I have a Kodak LS443 and I need a little help with a problem. Basically the camera is taking blackened pictures everything else works and it just started last week. I took a few on the first day of holidays and as I was going to take the next few the flash suddenly started going off as I took the picture telling me that the view was black or dark. I checked the pictures and the first few that I took were okay but from then on it was black screen, black pictures, will take sound in the movie mode but no picture. I know most all the settings in the camera and it doesn't seem to be there and today after returning home from a pictureless holiday I tried to download the pictures but there is an error message saying there is a problem with the device connected to the system is not functioning. Now it will download the black pictures but not the other ones, It is not my first problem with the LS443 but now my warranty is out I need to contact Kodak or fix the damn thing myself. Or failing all that it will have to slam it off a few walls and hope that that may fix it.

Thanks in advance for any advise

It is highly unlikely that anyone here can diagnose hardware problems form afar. I assume you tried the basics, replacing the battery and the CF card. The only viable choice here is to get an estimate from Kodak.

    Re: Kodak LS 443

I am looking for a contact for Kodak. All I can get is the American contacts numbers and e-mail. And they will not entertain me being from Ireland. They say go to your European Kodak dealer but they say to contact my dealer and my dealer says contact Kodak.
It is a dud camera and one that I cannot wait to get rid of. It is my third major problem and it will either have to be replaced with another model or binned and I am giving Kodak the opportunity to redeem their faulty goods. But My e-mails to Kodak websites fall on deaf ears or blind eyes. I understand that nobody here may have a quick fix but it was worth a shot before I send the camera in a million bits to the Kodak offices with a letter for them telling how unhappy I am with their customer service and their product. I am not even going to pay a penny or cent to have this fixed as the last couple of times I have requested a better model thay just return back a repaired LS 443. But this camera will never be right. Thanks for your time

Yes you need to write to Kodak and complain about your problems to them directly. If you have a Consumer Affairs department in Ireland then you should contact them for advice as well. As a consumer you do have rights to have purchased a camera or anything else and for that purchase to meet certain expectations. It would appear in this case it hasn't and you certainly are entitled to have it rectified to your satisfaction.

If Kodak have a service phone number and I know they do. For us Australians it is actually based in the Phillipines. If you have to, ask to speak to a manager and keep going up the line until you get to a satisfactory conclusion. It is in their best interest to keep their customers happy.

Remember you can always go to newspapers and televison seeking to have your story told for the benefits of other consumers. Publicity, even one instance that reaches a target audience can have devastating effects (unlikely to worry them that much, but might get you a replacement newer model to passify you).

    Hope that helps.
