    Experience with general battery

Have you ever bought a general battery for your camera?
I am interested in purchasing an ebay general battery. Most concern is: chance of damaging the camera (don't want to void warranty).

    What is that?

What is a "general battery"? Is that a brand or a type of battery? It's not ringing any bells for me.

Oops. I meant a generic battery with no brand name.

    Gotcha

No experience and I wouldn't do it. Too risky. Better to spend more and have confidence. There are some third-party battery companies that appear to be making some good digital camera battery replacements, though. I can't recall any names right now. But I wouldn't worry about any battery from a reasonably well-known maker.

I've seen on websites that Hahnel in Germany sell replacement batteries for my Minolta A2 at half the price for the original batteries.
Of course murphy's law says that I ordered two more Minolta batteries when I bought the A1 just before Christmas and paid full price

    Re: Experience with general battery

What I want to share is if you get the right product from right seller, generic battery is not worse than original battery, sometimes even better than original one, because most generic batteries have higher capacity than their original peers. You should check specs and warranty very carefully before your purchase, avoid sells who don't provide details (probably they intend to make everything unclear). Check this site, I bought Canon NB-1LH and Nikon battey from them, and they are OK. http://www.ebuybatteries.com.

anyone rembember the days when Ni-Cds were called Deacs.. only came in button cell shapes welded together into packs and cost a fortune.. he he
