I contacted a guy by the name of smith to purchase some camera equipment and I wanted to know if anyone has ever delt with him before. Here is the url:

Please let me know because I am about to send him money via western union but he is using a strange shipping company that I never heard of in the states. The url for the shipping company is:

I am new here and do not want to fall victim to some bull **** scam.

Well, I certainly would avoid sending western union, no reason he can't do paypal.

*edit - okay wow just saw the ad, AND hes asking money sent western union? Yes its a scam. I don't know why the ad hasn't been removed yet. Nikon D300 for $700, D700 for $1k? Super obvious scam.

Sorry about that. I need to check the classifieds for spam more often.

Remember - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. That ad was advertising the Nikon D700 new for $1000. Not a chance they're legit.

I'm sorry your first experience was spam. However, I just wanted to say that I've used the classifieds quite a few times here - I've purchased some things, but I've sold a few cameras, including DSLR's - and some lenses.

The classified forum isn't the most populated; however, my experiences have always been positive. When you buy or sell from someone who frequents PR, it's a great experience because you both know you can trust the other person.

I'm really glad you asked about the seller. I hope you do find a good deal on what you're interested in.
