I've been using the Minolta Dimage A2 for about 9 months and love it. I've used my Vivitar 283 flash with it via the PC cord socket. This works fairly well in manual exposure mode since the 283 has a built-in sensor and exposure dial. I just set the camera to the f-stop shown on the 283 dial and get OK results. However, we all know digital is very unforgiving with under and over exposure - compared to film at least. So I do get a fair number of poorly exposed shots. I'm wondering if anyone who is using the Minolta 5600 auto flash with an A2 can speak to its performance? Do you get precise exposures in auto exposure mode throughout the zoom range? I don't want to spend $300+ on this flash unless it works seamlessley and automatically with the camera to give perfect exposures. If the exposures vary with the 5600, then it's likely no better than the Vivitar, and less powerfull to boot. Thanks!
