Digital camera LCD hood/visor

As a newcomer to digital photography and to this forum, can anyone advise me
on a way to make a hood or visor for the LCD on my digital camera.

I find it very difficult to view the LCD in the bright sunshine.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT

I've seen people put a 2x plastic magnifier(for photos or to read when your eyes get old ) over the LCD with velcro or a homemade harness... those cost $2 if they will fit

that will shade it AND magnify in 1

Thanks for that. I have just tried this with an old $2 slide viewer and it works perfectly.
I removed the translucent screen and I can now hold it over the LCD to check on settings etc.
I think it would be rather inconvenient to have this viewer fitted over the LCD. This idea suits me. Many thanks,

cool........ now if i can find a hood for my 1D that FITS MY STYLE?It will never happen though

Your camera may have adjustable brightness on the LCD but that probably won't help too much. I use the hat I'm wearing to shade it a little. Not perfect but handy.
