    decision in purchasing camera

I conclude from reviews that the Olympus C 5060 generally surpasses the Sony Cybershot DSC P10, but the reviews don't provide much information about the movie mode, other than basic specifications. I would appreciate some feedback as to how these two cameras compare so far as quality of movies is concerned (at least 10 min. movie time). This will be my first digital camera, and I anticipate using it for a long time. I want a light weight camera that serves all purposes.
    I appreciate any feedback.

    Movies

I think you'll find that there aren't very many people here who care about the movie capabilities of digital cameras. You might try posting a question on the Digital Video forum. People who are really interested in video will have more experience and a more valid opinion. That said, in the past year, digital camera makers have made an effort to improve the quality of the movie captures that digital still cameras can do. Faster processors, larger internal buffers, and better firmware have all been added to a lot of cameras. But movie capture is still an extra feature on cameras that were made to capture still images. For all but a few very new cameras, video capture is at low resolution and high compression. If video is really important to you, then you should buy a video camera. Or, maybe a video camera with still image capture capability would be a better decision.
