Card readers are the way to go. I wouldn't be without one. Any name brand USB 2 reader should be great. I've been using USB 1 readers for a couple of years and USB 2 is wayyyyyy faster. I sometimes I have to dump 2 gigs of images during a lunch break at an event. If I can do that with a USB 1 reader, then USB 2 will be smoking fast.

I have a laptop with a built-in reader and that's what I usually use. But I also have three Microtech Zio USB 1 CompactFlash readers. They've worked pretty well for me, although one has started giving me problems. I'm pretty sure that any Microtech, Lexar, Delkin, or other major brand reader will serve you well. And I think they all handle CompactFlash Type I and II. We do have a card reader reveiw section, although there aren't a lot of reviews. Check it anyway to see what's available.
