Canon G1 - CF speed tests??

I have just picked up a "mint" Canon G1, and it came with everything, even the original 16MB CF card (whoopie!!).
Needless to say I am going to get at least 1 larger card, at least a total of 1 GB.
While I am on a budget for this, I would rather go larger and not keep flipping cards.
I have read many posts on Microdrives, and I want ot stick to CF1/flash card format for many reasons.
Now I have read many many reviews on different cards and speed tests, but none I have found have been with the G1.
Has anyone seen a test with the G1??
Does anyone have a G1 with multiple card experience??
I have the chance to purchase the following from a work associate who has a bunch of these cards in his office they are selling as follows:
1. Transcend 1 GB - 25 or 30X
2. PNY 128MB ??speed
3. Delkin 512MB - 50X
4. Delkin 1 GB - 50X
5. Lexar 1 GB - 32X
6. Kingston 1 GB - Std ??X

Does anyone have any thoughts??

High speed cards will not speed up a Canon G1. Buy the cheapest card you can find.

The G-1's electronics can't write the image to the flash card fast enough to take advantage of the super fast cards of today. There is no reason to buy on any criteria other than price, unless you have a fast camera that you can use them in addition to the G-1. If you have a Canon 1D Mk II, well, yeah, buy a super fast card that you can use in both cameras. If you have just a G-1 then get the cheapest card you can find.

OK now, the Kingston std chip is at $40.
The Lexar 32X is $55.
The Transcend 25 or 30X is $50.
The Delkin 50X is $65.
All are 1 GB.

So if I am reading this correctly, go Kingston....
I believe the Kingston is made by Toshiba.

Am I correct here??

Is this camera too slow??

Do you have any other input??

"Slow" is a relative term. I didn't consider my old G-2 as too slow for general photography. It was a responsive P&S camera, and generally performed quite capably. The "fast" write times of new cameras and new flash cards is sort of made necessary by the large file sizes of current cameras. For example, my Pro 1 has a sensor of about 8 MP and a file size that can be quite large at superfine JPG or huge if I shoot RAW.

The G-1 has, I believe, a 3 MP sensor, so the files are that much smaller. To flush the buffer and write it to the card is not that hard for a G-1 to do with typical shooting. It should be fine for anything other than extended burst shooting or if you shoot sports in RAW mode all the time.

I would just buy the cheapest one, if I was never going to use it in a superfast camera that can take advantage of higher throughput speeds of more expensive CF cards.
