    Canon A80 Replacement???

Does anyone know what replaced the Canon Powershot A80?

I absolutely love my A80, but the zoom control has gone bad. I am trying to figure out if I want to repair my A80 ($128), or try to upgrade to something else. Can anyone give me and suggestions. I know $128 is a lot and can be 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of a new camera with the same features. But I am afraid that the color quality won't be as good or as bright as I have on my A80. I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700 at the office, but I hate the color quality on it and it's 8MP and an $800 camera at that. Numerous times I have opted to use my personal A80 over my Nikon. The other thing I don't know about is that I want to continue to use Flash Cards in my digital camera because I have several of them and can switch them out between the Nikon and the A80.. I've been on the road and have forgotten my card in my card reader etc. I also print several pictures on a wide format printer and even at 4MP (A80) my pictures turn out awesome!

I don't have any of the camera's software loaded on my computer so I'm not worried about the software part of it.

So there's my predicament. I would appreciate any feedback anyone would like to post.

    Thanks!

    Re: Canon A80 Replacement???

Why not get a new Canon A-Series camera? It will be more of the same but better. Seems like the logical thing to do. I love the 7-megapixel sensors. I think they're the best thing since the excellent 4-megapixel sensors. And Canon has improved shutter-lag, start-up, and shot-to-shot considerably since the A80. LCD displays are also a lot better. There's even an A-Series camera now with image stabilization:

Based on what you've told us, I think that would be an excellent replacement.
