NowPublic.com recently announced their Citizen Photojournalism Awards and I thought that it might be of interest to people in this forum.

NowPublic is changing the world of news by creating a set of tools that enable people like you and I to work together to report the news, from the hyperlocal (like your kids soccer game, town meetings - a local event) to the global (like pictures from the Vatican during the recent papal conclave). NowPublic is news by the people for the people, from the peoples perspective.

An important part of any news story are the pictures and the Citizen Photojournalism Awards were created to encourage people to go out and cover news stories. Any photo uploaded to a NowPublic member portfolio will be eligible for weekly $100 cash awards and there is a $500 grand prize. Membership is free and there is no entry fee.
