Question On Line Stores (Genius Cameras)

I am planning to buy a digital SLR camera soon. I have browsed around looking for good deals.
I saw an incredible good deal at Genius Cameras (www.geniuscameras.com). They have the Nikon D70s (body only) for $419. I would like to know if someone in the forum has had any experience good/bad with this store.

Another store with good prices is: Best Price Cameras (www.bestpricecameras.com)

I appreciate any comments on those stores.
    Thanks,
    ybechar

For those out there interested on looking the ratings of dealers I found an excellent resource at: http://www.resellerratings.com/ By the way the ratings of both places mentioned in my previous post could not be worst. I am defenitely not buying from those stores......

I started to but my Canon 20D from them. Here's what happened, first, they told me that it is the "European (gray market) model" and that it doesn't come with any of the accessories (battery, charger, neck strap, U.S. warranty, etc.) and politely offer to add those items to your order for an additional charge. I declined saying that I would buy those items locally. They continued to attempt to add items to the order and I held my ground. Finally, the rep said let me check to see if it is in stock (Gee, I wonder!). Not so suprisingly, it was not in stock and there ended my business relationship with Genius Cameras.

I had read a number of reviews about these guys here and the biggest complaint seemed to be about the hard sell. Always trying to get you to buy more or upgrade or something like that. I attempted to order from them in spite of the reviews thinking that if I held my ground on all of the extras I would be okay. Then thay started the "not in stock" game and I quickly came to the conclusion that all of the people posting here that had been doing this for quite some time had probably already been there, done that and gotten the t-shirt. Having learned that lesson I jumped back in to the reviews and ended up buying from B&H which has next to no bad reviews.

A bit long winded but hopefully helpful.

Re: On Line Stores (Genius Cameras)

I ended buying the Camera from eTronics.com. It was an excellent expirence. I order the camera on Monday afternoon and pay for the 3 day shipment option. I was very surprise to received the package next day (BTW, nothing extra was charge to my credit card).
My only concern with them is that there is no phone number to call and talk to a person. But with that service who needs to do that....

The camera was there exactly as I expected. I bought the BODY ONLY package, and after what I read from other on-line store I was I little scare. But the package included everything it was supposed to include (cables, software, battery, charger, manuals, guarantee).

If you like what you see from them, just buy it......

Hope this is of help to someone out there.

Here's my experience via a reply email to them:

This is to confirm my conversation with your representative that I requested to cancel (rather than confirm) my order. I was told it would be cancelled. I made my decision based on the information I was provided by your rep that there have been several returns of this lens as it is not designed to work with a digital camera due to the conversion factor. I was recommended a different lens which was twice what I was willing/able to spend and told it was far superior; Sigma 28-200mm f3.5-f5.6 macro compact hyperzoom lens. After this information was conveyed to me I requested my order be cancelled whilst I research the recommended lens. As I can find no reference to it on any review site, I expect I will not be entertaining the idea of purchasing it at this time.

I am just worried they will charge my credit card anyway as I gave them the pin # before all this started to look bad. Any input?
