Here is a shot i took this weekend. I had to crop it quite severely as my lens hood came undone a little and i didn't notice so there was a lot of vignetting (DOH!!!). anyway, comments would be much appreciated.

The lens hood may have done you a service because I really like this as is. The only critique is the brightness of the sand which is a little overpowering and drags my attention to it all the time.

Other than that reminds me of some of the lakes in Wales.

Ooooooo. I like this one a lot. Makes me think of climbing a hill and then getting such a nice view as a reward! My only comment is that the horizon doesn't look quite level (judging from the cloud bottoms).

Very neat shot, it looks like you are way up in the air looking down as if you were in an airplane or something. I like the colors and the lighting a lot.

It's a beautiful place and you captured it really well. Where is it Shrapnel; at a guess I'd say Wicklow. Is it the sea or a lake?

Roger, I know what you mean about the sand, but at the same time I like it like that as it allows for the viewer to see how black or in fact brown the water is (after having travelled through the peat bog)

Tim, you're right about the horizon, I hadn't even noticed because of the uneven hills, in fact for me the sky was disappointing and i knew it could be improved, so one day when i get photoshop, I'll work on that part of the picture.

Tom, you're right, this is in the wicklow mountains, but just south of Dublin. There is a place about half an hour south of Dublin called Sally Gap and this is just a few kilometers south of that on the Wicklow way There's a whole series of loughs and streams fed by the peat bogs on the surrounding hills.

WOW! Ive always wanted to visit Ireland, and this is one of the reasons why.

Beautiful - the only part that bothers me is, as you noted, the blown out portion of the sky.

Glendalough is the only place in Wicklow I've been and it was gorgeous. I would have loved to see more ot it, but unfortunately we had horrible weather the entire time I was in Ireland - to the extent that they had shut down the ferry out of Dun Laoghaire. Hopefully I'll get back there soon, I'm in the process of getting my Irish citizenship. Glad to see more folks representing on the board. :)

Great angle, just a few things that are overexposed (the sky mainly). Also on my monitor it looks like the levels vary from different areas (rocks, grassy land in the centre) did you PS this or this is the original?!

Danielle, unfortunately, if there is one thing you can't count on in Ireland, it's the weather, but it looks like you really got the worst of it. On the other hand if we didn't have all this rain, there wouldn't be these forty shades of green to enjoy. I moved here only a year ago, and i have to say, it's an absolutely beautiful country, and i look forward to exploring every weekend.

Jared, this isn't the original, as i had to crop it quite a lot (see first post). I used hypersnap, and all i did in the form of post editing was adjust contrast and saturation levels (which is about all you can do with this software) on the whole picture and not on different areas (wouldn't know where to start if i had to do that :confused: )
