As some of you may know from my posting around here, i'm looking to start selling some of my photos. For those of you who have your own 'gallery' websites, do you know of any good places online to get cheap/ (or free) domain names?
I'll probably start showing some of my stuff in the meantime, but I'd like to have a website so that people can check out more offerings.
On a completely off-topic side note... I cut my first mattes yesterday! Quite a process at first, but after screwing up the first few you get into a groove and figure out a system. I'm definitely happy with the way they came out!
Cheers,
-Chris

I have had no hassles with godaddy.com. 7.95 for a .com per year. The biggest expense will being finding hosting after you get the domain name.

I second that for godaddy.com and recommend arivoo.com for hosting

3D vote for godaddy.
If you're looking for good free gallery software check out http://singapore.sourceforge.net. It's what I use on my website. All I have to do it drop images into folders and all the pages and thumbnails are automatically generated.

Godaddy, Godaddy, Godaddy.
I have been with them for a long time and recommend Godaddy to many many people.
Be careful of free webhosting though, as you don't retain ownership to your writings, unless you host the website yourself on your own hosting paid account. Although nothing is ever really safe, unless you never put your stuff on a server outside of your computer is it.

I host my site through my ISP, which is a part of the service.
I then have it forwarded to mtbbrian.com via Go.Daddy (http://www.go-daddy.com)
So mtbbrian.com equals http://home.mindspring.com/~mtbbrian/Home_Framset.htm
It has its share of problems, which are minor, but it's cheap!
I like Go Daddy, even if the NFL didn't like their Super Bowl commercial!
 :D :p ;)
Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone. It seems like godaddy.com is pretty cheap for what they offer. I know comcast (as my DSL provider) allows me a certain number of websites... i just have to figure out if they will support external domain names.

I use Ipowerweb.com for a total of 7.95 per month which is for a lot of disk space, band width and it includes a free domain name.

I've done several websites using lowesthosting.com, lots of storage, unlimited traffic and good price as well. Not good if you need to run asp, but good for cgi, php and such.

Hey John USA, they asked about cheap web domains not hosting, but suggestions are always good for hosting. I host websites if anyone is looking, drop me an email and we can talk.
