This is one of our pictures that we took from the wedding site. In true, Ansel Adams form, I used my Mamiya RZ and 7ii, to take our wedding pictures using Ilford Delta 100.

But, we took a digital shot to show everybody as soon as possible. We walked about a half mile from the hotel to find this spot with Half Dome in the background.

It was far more special than I could've hoped for. I must admit that I was more worried about the cameras not going off on time than actually getting married. It was a great day, and it went off without a hitch. I surprised Karen by saying my vows in spanish and I am glad to be wearing my ring. Having this be our second wedding, (both of us being divorcees) we really enjoyed having the low fanfare.

The unsuspecting hiker was the nicest guy, and was walking his dog. So we had good dog kharma too. Later we heard from the front desk that he was so happy to be a part of the wedding since he just retired and was excited to be spending more time with his wife. She was checking out of the hotel and wondered where he was. Now they will have that memory as a part of their marriage too.

Here's our first digital wedding picture, and in self portrait style.

Thanks to all of the people on PR.com who wished us well.

Best wishes,
Loren

I loved the plan, I love the photo, and I'm very, very happy for both of you. I wish the two of you a happy, prosperous future. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I didn't know Ansel Adams was a Mamiya user...

Thanks John, and it's a pleasure to share this with PR.com.

As for the Ansel Adams quote, I was going for the b&w film route. It's my plan to take one of the negatives to be printed old fashioned with an enlarger.

We should have dinner sometime next week, are you free?

I'd like to have dinner. It should be early in the week. I have to leave for PMA on Friday. But I need to eat, and it would be good to see the new bride and groom :)

Great photo! Looks like a beautiful wedding.

We are going to redo ours eventually, since ours was a quicky down to the courthouse. We are planning on doing it probably just the four of us, someplace tropical. :)

Loren,
Having met you both last August I am certain that you both have "married up".
I know I sure did with my second (and last) marriage.
Great portrait! God Bless you and Karen both!
Marriage is a GREAT THING to be a part of!

Truely a story book wedding. I am so happy for you and wish you all the very best in the years to come with your beautiful new bride. Don't have the words for the picture, let me just say gorgeous and leave it at that. What a treasure to have and to share through the years to come.

Thanks for sharing the moment with your friends here at PR.

Hi Adina,

My sister redid her vows too under similar circumstances. She had her daughter be her maid of honor which was really nice.

A nice tropical place instead of the cold would be a very nice getaway too.

What a wonderful wedding photo and memory you'll have! Ah if I could be so lucky to have weddings to photograph with such wonderful setting available.

Best wishes in the years to come!

Thank you for the best wishes and giving good quality b&w film a shot.

Karen and I are going to make a visit to Death Valley this weekend if you are interested in meeting up. I know it's last minute, but the plans were just made last night.

We are planning on going to Badwater.

Thanks Lara,

It's not to often that I get to be dressed up for a real event, and Karen did well with finding a not a dress, but fancy outfit.

Have a great evening.

Thanks Brian,

As you are one of the few (Chicago gathering and Photo-John aside) that have met Karen, you know that she's very easy to get along with. All of my family fell in love with her right away, and told me not to mess it up.

Luckily I listened to the advice.

Thanks again Brian.

Liz,

Anybody who says "awesome" is number 1 in my book. Thank you so much Liz, and I really hope that Karen and I can come out to NY some time for a gathering and to meet you. That would be great.

Kindest regards,

Thanks buddy,

I am glad that the rain stopped, and it was a great event in it's simplest form.

We'll be there at sunrise since we will be leaving Friday afternoon. I have to find the exact location, but we'll definitely be ready to meet mid-morning.

Looking forward to it.

And a belated congratulations from me too, Loren and Karen! I'm so happy everything turned out for you, including the cooperation of the unsuspecting hiker! Beautiful shot, beautiful couple, so absolutely perfect!

I'm very glad I got the chance to meet both of you in Chicago!

All the best to you both,

Hi Gene and Penny,

I think that we were on the same page. We didn't want to risk a 10 hour drive to sit in the rain, although the pictures could be incredible. So far this year, we have been on two trips where we were snowed in or rained on throughout the weekend.

Maybe another weekend we can head out to Death Valley or the Poppy Reserve.
