This one is an obvious manipulation.
Original was taken through a blurry airplane window as we banked over the fort which is on an island just next to Churchill (you know, the polar bear place).
Built way back when by the British.

I liked the subject and it's the only shot I got (maybe that I'll ever get) so I went to town in PS and played with all the filters 'til I got it to look cool.
what do people think of this? Kind of a 'time tunnel' effect.

I'd post a before pic but I did this before I wised up to working on a copy. So I'd have to rescan it, which would mean finding it among the masses! Maybe later.

Dear JK,

You know, you really are in love with the old school look photos :D . I mean Holga, Speed Graphic, Brownie, etc. This is a great thing! Your photos have personality, idiosyncrasy, and boldness. You are defying the Digital Age! Horray!!

In my opinion, your vingetting is not subtle enough. And I suppose you added a little noise as well? Keep it subtle. The point is to lure your viewer into agreement with you, not blast them with effects all at once. Make it subtle. But do not give up on your personal style, and do not let an ametuer like me tell you what to do! Good luck!

Hey Dz,
I threw everything but the kitchen sink at this puppy! Nuthin subtle about it and I make no apologies :p - hehe
I was really just having fun, but in the end I really like it and I thank you for your encouragement/admonishment :)
Cheers.

Having fun is the most important part of photography for me, that and making nice photos. ;) I agree with what DZ said about making it more subtle, and I also agree with what he said about not letting someone else tell you what to do. :D This is a pretty bold photo and if that's what you were going for, then congratulations, you did it.
