This is a very nice shot. I would like to see a tad more ground beneath the lizard and it would be great if there was a little sparkle in his eye.

A good shot of this boney lizard. ( Armadillo lizard) ? I like the framing and the fact that both front claws are in the frame. Good exposure and sharp focus on the head. You posted a fairly large image here that I have ned to use my entire screen ( 19 ") to view it in whole.

It's called a Texas Horned Lizard, a Protected spps in Texas. They only eat Carpenter Ants which have dissapated in much of Texas due to the introduction of the (Brazilian) fire ant. They used to be all over Texas when I was a kid but now they are pretty much restricted to South, (western) central, and West Texas. They also have the odd defense of squirting blood from their eye into the eyes of would-be predetors. Thanks for the compliments on the picture. here's a full body of the same lizard. I just liked the close-up more due to the impact of his facial features...
