The effect is neat. I like the colours and the mix of natural and artificial lighting. Also, kudos for being there at the right time!! One thing though, I wonder if the hot spots on the bridge would be a concern if I was looking at a large print. I can't say that this is an issue here considering the small size of your image but it might get more disturbing on a large print (and then maybe not...).

Seb, what do you mean with hot spots? Well, as for composition, I think you should focus more on the two towers and try to zoom in more and fit them in the frame so that they are larger. Right now i feel like the whole thing is too far, IMO. Maybe focusing on two towers is distracting, so you might want to just focus the whole image in just one tower, and see where that takes you and if you like it better (it might not be better).

A beautiful shot. I love the compsition and the colors in the photo. I find my eye is always trying to focus on the hot spots on the tower and I'm having to force myself to look at the rest of the image tho. I agree with Seb, the larger this gets the more distracting the hot spots will become.

I think this is a beautiful shot ! The colors and the composition is great , like mentioned above the mix of the natural and artificial lightning .The moon sets a very nice mood to the photo .It can be very difficult to get such a nice shot with the moon above the bridge .
Would that be 20 ° F ? I assume it would not be °C .

I am talking about the areas where details are lost due to the strong lighting (mostly on the two towers here).

The hot spots on the towers ...hmmm.... I think Gary gets away with it on this shot and they don't give me any trouble on the shot as posted.
Zooming in on the towers is another photo altogether. This one gives the expanse of the bridge nicely. Incredible to have the moon included.

I like the shot with its pleasing colors and the nice moonpath. I don't think this has the eyecatching dramatic viewpoint of your other bridge shots but is still way better than any bridge shots I've done.

About the hotspots, they actually diminished somwhat in the print. I printed a 7 1/2 x 11 and the hotspots seem much less dominant as there is some detail visible . Also, this web posteed version is a bit more contrasty and saturated than the print and the milder contrast helped to reduce the bright spots. My biggest dissapointment here was the moon being blown out, although I feel it still is acceptable ( I would hope )

This one is outstanding! You mentioned the moon being blown out. Yes, a bit, but it sort of gives the shot that spooky late night effect. Just curious, did you get a shot with about a 5 second exp?
You probably lost too much of your sunrise effect, another bonus in this picture.

I think it's a nice shot. Being up at 6AM in 20 deg temps spells dedication..

Scott. . .glad you find the elements in this shot apealing. 8 seconds was the fastest I could get with my 2.8 aperture. I think I did try an underexpose by 1stop which gave me a shorter shutter, maybe 5 or 6 , but that image completely lost the water . A multiple exposure is what I would like to try next time.
jtp ... funny how these things work out . . behind me is a highway and then a vast parking lot for Jacob Reis beach that has a great beach house and some other interesting scenes I was specifically there for waitng in the car for the lighting to get right ( and trying to keep warm). When i turned to look and saw this bridge scene i just had to run across and get it. Good thing early Sunday morning there were no cars on the highway.

Another great photo - Is it me? I'm not sure where the bright spots people have been commenting on are. Unless your all talkinng about the big thing in the sky and the little spot at the base of the middle pier.

They don't bother me in the slightest and I think should be okay if blown up to a large poster.

Gary, I have probably come back to this picture a dozen times. It is amazing how you see different things on different monitors. This is the first time I've looked at it at home on my Dell laptop.
The spotlights on the water shining up at the bridge don't even show up on my desktop at the office.
Again, great job!

Oh! Did you make it back across the highway in time to catch some shots of the beach house?

Scott, the clouds rolled in so fast that about 10 minutes after this shot, you could not see the moon . The sunrise never happened and i waited till about 9:00 before I started taking some pics of certain things I had in mind. Day turned out to be somewhat dissappointing, but got this shot and maybe two others of other things, not a total loss. Sitting in the car drinking coffee most of the morning . . .
