Over christmass I am gona be shooting with my Canon T2 With the 420 ex-flash....I am gonna be doing flash portraits indoors....I really wannt to know how yall would do it if you were in my situation...For instance what shooting mode? Would you compensate? Stop the ISO down to 100? Maybe stop it up? Any suggestions would be great! Thankyou in advance and MERRY X-MASS!!! :) -Mr.U

I can't help you with Canon-specific questions, but the thing about neg film is that you don't want to underexpose it. If you set your camera at 100 instead of 160, then you're telling it to overexpose by 2/3 of a stop. Since neg film can handle overexposure (up to a stop or two, anyway) much better than any amount of underexposure, you're giving yourself a little room for exposure error. Not a bad idea to do it, but in a lot of cases it's probably not necessary either.

Ok I guess the question I was asking was actually....When you use the apature priority mode with an EXTERNAL flash It will allow you to set the apature but the shutter speed will always be /125 or /60 no matter what speed of film you are useing....The same thing in P mode the camera sets /60 or /125 with the minimum apature for whatever the lens will allow.....So I gues I am wondering how do yall Usually shoot with an external flash.....I am willing to learn.....If you cant tell I am a begginer. :) Thanks in advance for any help....Mr.U

Depends on the situation. Typical flash-on-camera type shooting, like at a wedding reception or corporate event it won't make much difference between 1/60 and 1/125. A longer shutter speed (all other factors remaining the same) will give you more background ambient light if you're shooting inside - less of a "cave" look.

How I shoot with flash - depends on the situation again. Reception/events: usually on manual at 1/60. Outdoor fill flash on a bright sunny day: again on manual but the fastest sync speed on the camera. Of course, shooting in manual mode you'll have to set the lens aperture and the flash too.
