Hello Gary,

The lighting is a bit harsh for my liking but I like how you composed this shot. This is simple and effective. While I like the posture of the girl and her dog, I am ambivalent about her expression; her smile seems somewhat too posed.

Overall, I think that this is a good photograph with a great visual impact.

Strangely, I can't edit my original post but I also wanted to point out that I find the water to be especially well exposed. Is there any special trick that I should be aware of ???

I hate to say this spidy, but if not for the titular stars of your photo it would be a steller image. For me the Girl and Dog just distract me from what it is that I really want to see. Please tell me you got one of these with out them.

I Like this shot. The image appears to be about the girl and her dog and what they are observing. I like the composition and do not find the lighting to be too harsh at all. It appears to be a pretty natural shot to me.
However I would like to know what caught her and her dog's interest.

Seb . . .Yeah, the lighting is harsh as this was late in the morning. I do not usually like a photo with lighting that is too harsh, but somehow it adds something to the scene for me. Not sure what, maybe a hard edge or feel. The water did come out to my liking as well. No technique used for that while taking the shot, but I liked the lighting of the water and enhanced it further with some dodging and lighting brush to bring out the appeal a bit more
Almo . . .I like the scene the subjects are in as well, but did only get this one shot that day. Thanks for commenting

Nina . . .glad you like it. There were some Geese out on the water honking up a storm and both girl and dog were watching the excitement. Thanks for the comments
