Thanks Penny! I got a new camera from my hubbie so I am hoping to post tons more. I just haven't been too inspired since my last photo class was such a stressful endeavor!

So, I'm hoping the Projects and you guys will boost the drive along!

Absolutely adorable. She is beautiful, and that little bored look is precious. I think it's all there. I'm not sure what else you're looking for.

If you want to play with it, try a series of crops, getting tighter around her face. See if you find something there that strikes your fancy. :-)

Thanks, Speed! I was playing around with my strobes...they were too far away and not really all that great anyway. I have new equipment since I took this series...and am anxious to get her to pose again for me.

Here I was just seeing if I could post and that was the only pic I had at the office that wasn't too snap shotish.

Thanks again everyone for your feedback!

I sure wish we would have had a little girl in our family. I have to bug my neighbors or friends children to photograph now. She looks like a little natural so keep the pictures coming. I don't like the background but Christen has that great smile we all want to capture.

The pose, the expression, the setting, the exposure, the soft beauty of that child. Superb shot.

But I think I get what you're feeling here. Beautiful, but not quite there...

What I would recommend if this exact situation ever comes up again is this: get the camera lower, about eye level or lower to her, and have her look right into the lens. That's what I think theis picture "needs."

But I am not knocking it in any way!

Do you know about the Vienna Photographic Society? http://www.safeport.com/vps/
A picture like this would blow away the monthly competitions.

Thanks, I didn't even know about this. It's almost a shame though because we will be relocating further south at the end of this year. I am going to have to look further into this anyway. Thank you so much! :-)

Pointers and honest critiques are always welcome!

I was using an old SLIK tripod that doesn't transition very well so I honestly don’t think I changed the level in this whole series….hmmm now I’m gonna go back and look at the others again. I did half digital half B/W (I wanted to hand color 11X14 prints for the grandmas) and I know the B/W shots were totally different poses.

I now have better lights, new backgrounds and a new tripod that is so much easier to maneuver oh and a new digi slr to play with. I will have to do this again. Just another excuse to go and buy her a new dress, lalala!

Thanks again for the honest feedback!

Where? Where are you relocating to? Are you coming back to NC, or are you going further south?

We are moving to the Gulf Coast...Alabama. A little town called Fairhope or there abouts. Half way between Mobile and Pensecola, FL. We just can't take the commute around here any longer. My daughter is in daycare for almost 11 1/2 hours a day...and it's getting worse. I want to raise my daughter and work on #2, I don't want to sit in traffic.

We are pretty much starting over. And I have never been happier about it! Our plans include a darkroom, an archery range and a dog or two (to chase the cat...MUHAHAHAHA!) we sold the house and paid off EVERYTHING.

We are stopping off in Rodanthe, NC in September for a week of East Coast beaching first...we won't see too many waves on the gulf...well until a hurricane comes thru...but we'll be visiting family in NC or VA at that time! LOL
