I was wondering to whom i can send a picture to so i can have it verified that it has NOT been tampered with

I don't know if that's possible. I've never heard of it, and apparently the LA Times hasn't either (at least before that shot was published :p ).

I read something about a newer Canon - maybe the 1DII - that can verify this if shot with a special software package or something. Quite expensive I'm sure, above and beyond the price of the camera.
