I have a Canon Rebel 2000 with a Tamron AF28-200mm Super F/3.8-5.6 LD Aspherical (IF) lense. I was wanting to buy a Canon XTI DSLR and use this lense on it. Is this possible and would I like it? Thanks

Your Tamron lens will work fine on the Canon XTi. However, the XTi has a sensor smaller than a 35mm film frame. The 1.6x digital conversion will effectively convert your 28-200mm lens to a 45-320mm lens. So you'll lose the wide-angle capabilities of the lens that you have with the Rebel 2000. But the lens will mount to the XTi just fine and auto focus and auto exposure should work fine, too. Sometimes, with older non-Canon lenses, there can be focus or exposure issues. But that's not super common. If it is a problem, you would have to contact Tamron and see if they have an electronic upgrade for the lens. Ranger25 06-16-2008, 04:26 AM Thanks for you reply. I was able to try one at my local camera shop and it worked great. |
