SpeedingSphere 06-02-2008, 06:17 PM What kind of photography do you shoot? If you could be a bit more specific, that'd help us to help you. Kevin949 06-03-2008, 05:10 AM Well stuff like my Daughters concert at school and my son indoor soccer games . mn shutterbug 06-03-2008, 05:19 AM Those pop up flashes really don't offer much as far as power or versatility. I'd definitely recommend a good Canon flash. Kevin949 06-03-2008, 05:26 PM Any recommendations ? mn shutterbug 06-03-2008, 05:48 PM Your instruction manual should tell you which flashes work for your camera. If the 40D requirements is the same as the 30D, you basically have 2 choices, the 430EX or 580EX. For the difference in money, the 430 should serve you well. Kevin949 06-03-2008, 07:51 PM Thank you . Jimmy B 06-04-2008, 12:48 PM go with the 580ex from the start, yes it is more $ but you won't worry about it in the long run. Jimmy B rovowen 06-13-2008, 12:30 PM I bought the 430 first then the 580 EX II. The 580 is well worth the extra money. If you can afford the difference, buy the 580 Reggie mn shutterbug 06-13-2008, 12:36 PM Besides power, what would the advantage be for getting the 580? I bought my flash just for fill flash on birds. I'm sure the 430 is all I'll ever need. Indoors must have it's own challenges to warrant that much moolah for a flash. BFiredup 06-19-2008, 05:57 AM What about the 550EX, I am looking to buy a flash also..... JTcooper 06-19-2008, 08:01 AM I don't own the 550 but I got the 580 and it a one darn good one. sometime I have to use 1/2 power to shoot a small groups shoot outdoor fill and if you want quick cycle time get you the canon external battery pack. |
