Myself and Bakerman (kind of new to PR) are going to ride bicycles down the old C&O Canal Towpath in June. We will start in Cumberland MD. and end up in Washington DC 3 days later. It is a 184 mile trip with tons of stuff to photograph on the way. The tow path is a popular tourist attraction, hiking and bicycling path. We plan on camping along the path at designated sites. We are going to carry our own food and supplies on our bikes. I can't wait to show you guys some of the sights along the way.

Here the two of us are out doing some conditioning.

Tyson -

Good luck, & have fun. I biked the C&O from just outside the beltway (Carter rock) to Harper's Ferry a number of years ago. I won't go into details because I would prefer not to influence your perception, but will say it was an amazing experience. Take a lot of shots and write some notes along the way to caveat your images (!!!).

Expect to hit some slow points btw; I think it was ~ 55 miles for me and it took 7 hours, which included a stop to eat lunch. At some points of the trail you have to slow down and even walk your bike due to large tree roots breaking above the ground. I had someone meet me in Harper's Ferry and give me a ride back, but I think the camping deal would be even better.

I can't wait, we leave the 14th (June). Our plan is to cover at least 60 miles a day, I was thinking of setting our sites on 84 miles the first day, We are starting in Cumberland at mile 184 and plan to get a group shot at mile marker 100. There is four of us total going.
