I just got a 5D. It's great! But my wide angle lens(Tamron 17-50 f2.8) seems to be made for sub-frame sensors. I get a great halo. Any suggestions on what lens to get for a replacement?
Thanks...

Congratulations on your new camera! That's a great choice! As for the wide angle, it depends on what your budget is and how wide you want to go. I can give you one suggestion from my own experience - and hopefully others will chime in with more. Canon 17-40L lens is a beautiful lens - $700 (Canon prices just went up) - check out the link below for specs. I had this lens for a couple of years and it was my favorite. I sold it only because I had to sell my heavier lenses due to a back/neck problem. It was hard to let go of! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/279582-USA/Canon_8806A002_17_40mm_f_4L_USM_Lens.html Liz MB1 05-08-2008, 06:03 AM I've got the 5D and the 17-40 Canon. The combo works great together. greghalliday 05-11-2008, 07:03 PM Really, to echo those previous statements, there is no need to look beyond the 17-40L. TimothyHughes 06-05-2008, 08:21 PM 17-40 is great like people have said. I got a great deal on a used 16-35mm f/2.8 that I couldn't pass up... another great lens. WesternGuy 06-06-2008, 11:46 AM I'd go for the 16-35 L II, but it would be helpful to know what other lenses you have for the 5D. I have it (16-35) for my 5D and it is a great wide angle lens. Covers the low end of the 24-105 and the 100-400 that I have for the other ranges. HTH Cheers, WesternGuy |
