There were several wildflowers along side the trial this past weekend. I'm not going to try and identify them, but still hope you enjoy them as I did.

Here are a few more, some duplication of species but from different locations.

nice shots OT the red one is a columbine, the white ones with 3 petals and 3 leaves is a trillium ( also the 3rd pic in the second set - kinda pinkish white). and i believe the blue one is an iris. not sure off hand what the other ones are, but i see them all in the forest i work in in KY (although i only see red trilliums), and glad to see they will all be out this week when i head down again.

You are headed back at a good time. The dogwood and redbuds are spectacular right now. As you can see from the pics several wildflowers are in full bloom. The mountain laurel or rhododendron are not blooming yet so we have that to look forward to.

Excellent works, OT!

I have to say that #2 of the 2nd post is my favorite of the bunch. Thanks for sharing these!

I have to agree that one was on the last trail we were on on Sunday afternoon just before we headed home. It was kind of special.

Sorry, but I prefer the first one. Someday, when I move to KY, I'm going to get me a macro lens. Them are some durned purty flowers.

KY is just one step away from heaven that's for sure. And the Nikkor 105mm is one sweet little lens. I do love mine.
