It may be cheating, but I don't care. A trip to the island of Komodo where the dragons live is difficult. But I found this giant lizard on Bali. It's still the same country.

Despite admitting that this Komodo Dragaon wasn't photographed on the island of Komodo, the only place where they are wild, it seems my confession was inadequate. Bali has a privately owned, commercial nature preserve that would properly be called a zoo. I can't remember the name of this location.

Seeing the Komodo Dragon enduced me to spend much time photographing it properly, both video and stills. It's a captive, not wild at all. But I'm skilled enough to poke my camera through the fence and get decent images of this amazing creature.

Hopefully I have now completely confessed to being a nature photo opportunist. It was the same in China. No way was I going to look for a wild Giant Panda, when the Beijing Zoo
offered such convenience.

My authentic nature photos and videos include friendly Gray Whales in Baja California, an African safari, the Galapagos Islands, Polar Bears in Churchill, Maitoba, Canada, Indian tigers, Australian wildlife, penguins and other species from Antarctica, plus a host of American wildlife photographed in many states.

komodo dragons are native to several islands. as is my understanding, and swim between them fairly regularly. there may just be one island the tourists go to (kmodo island)

its still a good shot even if shot at the zoo. like you said alot of times thats the only time your going to see them.
