Does anyone have any suggestions as to these lenses

Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 DG macro

Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 EX DC (if I can ever find it in stock)

Minolta 50 f/1.7

I currently have the following from my old Maxxum 5xi

Minolta 80-200 f/4.5-5.6 zoom xi

Tamron 28-80 f/3.5-5.6

Minolta 2500d Flash

50 f/1.7 is really good, and inexpensive.
Not sure if the flash will work on the A200. I think that it will but firing at full power, you would have to put it in Manual to control exposure.
For info on Minolta lenses (or 3rd parties for Minolta) check dyxum dot com

You'll like the 10-20, and the 50 you can't go wrong for the price they go for. I've heard nice things about the Sigma 70-300 macro, but Sony now has the 70-300 SSM G.

who does one go to if one wants any kind of technical data about lenses in the wilds of Wisconsin?

For lens info, as posted above, check out www.dyxum.com and they have a lens database with info and reviews... Best single source around. To get a good idea of pricing, and picking up older used ones, check out www.keh.com under their used gear...

Anyway, I'll second the vote for the Minolta 50mm 1.7... Great bang for buck... Sony won't be making a newer version of that one anytime soon, so grab and good quality used one...

Yes the 50 1.7 is a great lens! It is probably the most popular Minolta lens now as well. Best price best value prime lens you can get for a sony!

Your minolta telephoto would likely outperform that sigma, I would look elsewhere.
