Here are a few macro shots 've taken over the last few days with my new E-510 and the Olympus 35mm Macro lens. I think I should've used an external flash for fill on at least one of these shots, but I don't have one yet.

Let me know what you think (be vicious if need be). Thanks!

Actually all three shots look great, I think no need for using flash. How do you find the 35mm lens?, I ordered the 50mm for my E-510.

Thanks for the compliment, I had to do a bit of post processing on one of them to cut the shadows down a bit. If I had used a flash (and used it properly, which would likely be a challenge for me), I think I may have been able to preserve some detail that I lost when tweaking.

I love the 35mm, I have that and the 2 kit lenses, I think I probably use the 35mm the most. This surprises me a bit as this is my first prime lens and I thought I'd get annoyed by the lack of zoom, but the IQ and close focus more than make up for it.

I think the compositions are ok but the flowers are a touch bland and the light a little cold.

I like to shoot macro flowers after rain pretty close to sunrise/set.

Of course you can always use a squirt gun for that just rained on look.

maybe I will play with the RAW files and try some different white balance settings. Wouldn't cloudy give me a warmer look?

I like that idea a lot.

Thanks for the tips
