We kind of got on some different tangents this week with crops and shooting preferences. So I just wanted to throw out a few random track shots from earlier in the week. Some have the elements we have been talking about and others are totally different. Hope you like some.

OT - I like the top 3 out of the set. 3rd being my favorite. 2nd then 1st - I think the 1st shot would benefit from seeing more of the pit he is going to land in. Just seems it is missing something and I think that is it.... Good shots though as usual !

The first one isn't one I would go with, no face...but a great shot non the less....
#2 is my favorite....Hit all the "What I would want" features....

Mainly what I was trying to accomplish with this post is show a wider sampling of possible track shots. Closeups, wides, verticals and horizontals as well as peak action as opposed to in the middle of the event as in the mile shot.

Nice group of shots Larry. I like two and three the best. Great timing on number two with the sand.

I'm sorry that I went off on a tangent. You really showed a wide variety of possibilities by doing this you also showed a bit of your range as a photographer some of us have the problem of shooting the same shot over and over again, with different subjects in different situations (Not to point fingers, I can be one of those people).

Thanks Chris. I didn't have the slightest problem with the direction you took. I think we all have the tendency to do the same shot over and over if it has been successful. And for the most part there is nothing wrong with that if you are playing to a different audience. Example here same pose or shot of different kid if the different parents are the audience or intended purchaser. However by trying different approaches to the same old same old with a variety of perspectives, different angles, focal lengths and DOF etc. we can add a whole new dimension to our work.

I love all of the different shots and perspectives. I really appreciate the long jump pic. I have the hardest time shooting the kids in flight. Pics of them hitting the box are easy. So I'm inclined to like #1 a lot because I appreciate the skill involved.
