Just looking for some advice...I'm looking at getting my first digital slr. I currently use a 1VHS film camera and have shot with the early 1D models for the newspaper. Right now I'm torn between the 5d and the 1D Mark III. I'm leaning towards the 5D due to the full sensor, the megapixels, and the fact that it is a little smaller and lighter (sometimes you don't want to lug the big camera around). The only thing that disappoints me about the 5D is the fps. I wish it was at least 5-6. Although, I also like the newer technology that comes with the Mark III.

Now, I could probably use some better lenses and the 5D also comes with a 24-105 f/4L. I've heard rumors, but I also anticipate that the 5D is expected to have an upgrade (it's bound to be realeased as soon as I buy something). Would you recommend that I wait or bite the bullet and buy the kit? I suppose I could always sell the 5D body if a new one comes along, it's just a lot of money and I'd like to not lose too much money in the process. I'm looking at buying them used on ebay and I still get hung up when I see that for only $500-600 more I can get the Mark III. What to do, what to do?

1D Mklll=sports and action

5D=Landscapes and wide angles.

Which matters more to you. BTW the price has dropped so much on the 5D that it is one heck of a value.

I tend to shoot candids and photojournalism, sometimes speed needs to be involved. Thus, my dilema!:) Thanks for the input. I love the signature...it really rings true when you are trying to pick out new equipment.
