I have the D80 DSLR kit and it came with this camera: http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Camera-Lenses/2162/AF-S%20DX%20Zoom-NIKKOR%2018-135mm%20f/3.5-5.6G%20IF-ED.html
I really like the lense but am looking for a good Ultra zoom lens and I am looking at this lens: http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Camera-Lenses/2156/AF-S%20DX%20Zoom-NIKKOR%2055-200mm%20f/4-5.6G%20ED.html

I am confused because it says my camera is a standard zoom lens, but it lists a 7.4X zoom and the one I am looking at is a 3.6X zoom, and is listed under Ultra Zoom category. Can someone explain or tell me if the one I'm looking at will zoom in further than the one I have??

PS: I'm fairly new to the DSLR scene

the 5.0x or what ever it may be really means diddly squat. basically you could have a 1mm to 10mm be a 10x and a 100mm to 1000mm be a 10x.

the lenses with the larger mm value will reach further than ones with a smaller mm.
