I have a Canon 17-55mm, 1.2 lens that I use with my Canon 30D. Ever since new, it seems like there are dust spots that show up on pictures with this lens. What is the best way to get this check out and cleaned, if necessary?

Can you post a couple of pictures? I think it would be rare that you have dust in a lens. Is this the only lens it shows up on?

I wouldnt say its rare to have dust inside the lens. If the lens is sealed and weather resistant, it would be uncommon. With my 28-135mm, dust is slowly building up. I have one annoying, what seems to be an eyelash, sitting to the right side of my front element.
I'll be taking my lenses and 40D for a cleaning and focus calibration to the NJ Canon service center in a little while.
Post a few pics. It may be dust on your sensor which is causing the spots, which is much more easily fixed than dust in your lens.
