Don't know if anyone remembers but I came on here a little while ago to ask if I should buy an XTi or take the free XT that my in laws offered me and buy some lenses. I got some great replies here from Liz and a few others.
Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. This camera is working out great. Even better was that the kit lens they had was the 17-85IS and not the 18-55, so I scored big time.
I posted a few shots on my Member gallery that I've taken with it.
Thanks again for the help all!

You have some nice photos in your gallery - I enjoyed viewing each of them. My favorite is your wife on the beach. Great composition - nice sky.....
You might consider introducing yourself on the Viewfinder forum - tell a little about yourself, your new camera/lens etc - then post some of your photos there. Then if you want any critiques later on - you can also use the critique forum.
Welcome! I'm so glad you came back and gave us an update along with some pictures.

I checked out your gallery - great stuff! I see you've got an eye for the miniscule :-)
Glad to hear the XT is working out. I have no doubt you made the right decision - especially if you got the 17-85 IS lens. That's a really versatile single lens setup. Please post reviews for your camera and lens. We need more user reviews for everything!

Thanks again everyone. And thanks for looking at my gallery. Going to upload some more today as well. I am going to check out that Viewfinder forum, I took a quick peak over there yesterday and it looks like a fun place.
And will definitely post some reviews on my stuff in the review section. I like the 17-85s zoom range but my 70-300IS definitely knocks it out of the ballpark in terms of sharpness.
Thanks again all. have a good one!

I agree about the 70-300IS - it's one great lens. IMO it's very close to Canon's "L" lenses in sharpness and color.

Yeah I've seen it called the "hidden L" on some websites. Definitely not as fast as one of the 2.8L's but it's not slow for most situations that I use it in. The IS is fantastic, I've done lots of shots at 300mm handheld in somewhat low light and they're tack sharp.
And if comparing the price tags... well.. you can buy 3 of em for the price of one L ;-)
