took this tonight aswell on my venture. it is a walking path that leads to an over pass
i think its pretty neat how the bright blue stary effect of the light at the end looks as if you would be walking towards the light
let me know what you think

I like it although I cant decide about the star on the right. The one poking in from the top could easily be cropped without losing anything. Is the star effect something you did in post? Never had that happen when shooting around street lamps.

I like this composition, Rylan. It's clean, simple and interesting from your low angle. I personally would adjust the color in it. There is alot of red and correcting the balance would give a more natural, pleasing aesthetic. Just my feeling on that.
As for the starry light effect, that comes from stopping down your aperture. In this case you closed it to f25 which is very small and probably hurt your a bit in overall sharpness, but that is what enabled the starry light effect. You would have got a similiar effect even with f11-f16 as well.
As for the light coming in at the top maybe cropping it out or cloning it away would be good.
Nice simple image
I like nice simple images and this one works well for me although I too think that you need to pay more attention to the top of the frame. I am not bothered by the color but I can see that it isn't "natural".

i played with photoshop with the colors
Seems like a fantasy or something. The star effects on the lights make it seem like that.. Very interesting. The path of snow on the bridge is rather dark however. I would crop out some of the bottom for that reason. Nice work

I like the second one much better. Getting rid of the light at the top of the frame and more natural color strengthen the photo.
Not to get to metaphysical, but the light at the end of the path represents a goal, and the lights on the right denote those things that are bright and shiny, but can get us off the path to our goal.
Or, it's just a real cool winter shot.
Either way, I like it.

i was thinking like you were while shooting this. my girlfriend told me it would look sweet to shoot is so i pulled out my tripod and tried. i like the second version better! and i also composed it as the light at the end being a goal
thanks ptax!

There you go, now thats what I'm talkinabout. That edit is right on. The color is cool and allows the snow/ice to be crisp and white. the losing the light at the top cleans it up and really smooths it out.
A big improvement.
Good work!!
