It took MonkeyWrench in this (http://forums.photographyreview.com/showthread.php?t=40843)thread to remind me to stop procrastinating and go see the orchids at the local conservatory. Sometimes it takes a visitor to remind someone that they have something special in the backyard :p
Anyway, with only a few days left on this exhibit, I was happy I went. The butterfly exhibit will be starting March 15th :)
I transfered my equipment to my backpack for this visit. I included my "tube" lenses (50mm and 85mm) but forgot my tubes :( Luckily I had my 180mm macro that I intended to use only for extreme close-ups. Fortunately it was not busy so I was able to use it for these close-ups from way back.
Incidentally, I used the live-view feature almost exclusively on my tripod-mounted camera. Both to check the critical focus and also to monitor the swaying of the blooms to time the shots.
