Hello all, My name is Chris Johnson I'm new to the Freelance Still world but I'm not new in the field of photography. I shot for years in Television, some of my work has been seen on NBC, CBS, ABC Network Newscasts, CNN, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, Bloomburg and a ton more. When my wife and I moved from our old home to pursue a career for her I quit that, and became a stay at home dad. Now that we have settled I'm back in the game now doing stills, http://photo.retroactiv.net feel free to look around.

Tonight I'm shooting my first basketball game that I'm getting paid for, and won't be on the small screen. I'll post some of my shots up here because I would really like to have some critiques. Thank you for welcoming me into your world and I hope to be a contributing member once I get some sea legs.

welcome and don't feel hesitant to post any shots you may like, even the ones you don't! The images that don't work out are as big a part of the learning process as the images you really like!

Hey Chris, glad you found us.....inside joke there as I pointed Chris in this direction and where to look for his "first gig". He's another Indiana shooter :) I know there are many more out there though.
So which school are you shooting at Chris? Hope you have good lighting, I'm headed off to a school I have yet to shoot at so I don't have a clue what I'll find. I'll be at Heritage Christian, I have boys and girls varsity basketball there.
Have fun tonight Chris, and don't get stepped on by a ref :D and have a look around here, there are all kinds of tips for ya!

I've been stepped on plenty of times by refs in my past life as a tv photog. I'm headed tword Lafayette harrison, never even been there when I played ball so I don't have a clue. I pray for good lighting or my ISO will be turned up hot ;) since I don't have much equipment to play with.

Well have fun up there, they have descent lighting from what I have heard. And since your a Nikon shooter OT, aka Old Timer, aka Larry and jotgrmonkey can really help you out as well as dhravey aka Daniel.

Now that my plans have changed for tonight I'll be shooting two games at opposite ends of the county and trying to figure out the best route to get there and not get a ticket too!
