It's an eye catcher in it's stark simplicity and the wall and frame almost glows. The shadow formed by the frame sits nicely with everything else.
Gary my monitor is calibrated so I hope what I'm going to say next I is accurate. I can just about see your own very private stock of beer barrells through the opening and I suspect that is all you wish us to see and and this is fine because even complete darkness (I won't say blackness) withing the ope excerises the imagination. Repeating viewing of this is rewarding; it's not without beauty and I think it's your most interesting offering in quiet some time. I would be very happy to be influenced by this approach in my future view findings.

Gary - I echo everything Tom has said. The simplicity here is both breathtaking and curiously deceptive - indeed, the longer I look at it the "less" simple I can see it to be. I really look forward to seeing the others in the series.

Tom lol If the only thing evident is my Beer Barrel stock. . .than i'm safe. Actually, the Steam Valve in the lower right corner should be somewhat readily visible and there is a vertical pipe with slight bend running up on the lfet side from bottom to top. This pipe should be very faint. I just wanted enough to stir some mystery and curiosity

I like it because its like when your eyes get used to the dark, you notice the valve at the bottom first and then slowly you start to see the pipes and your eye moves up and around the hole.

To be honest I was not really sure what it was that was in there but now that you have explained Gary I can see the outline of everything that you mention. What a shot.

I love the 2 dimensional aspect of it, it's simple, and it's visually pleasing. The faded yet profound tones are also very aesthetically appeasing, and help the viewer focus more on the composition and 2 dimensional form, not to mention the lovely texture.

Interested in seeing the rest of the series. :)

thanks for the good words . . .I am curious as to what you are able to see on your monitor in this image. The vertical pipe in the left side of the opening should be so faint that really only the very top portion is there to give hint of it and the steam valve in the lower right corner should be somewhat easy to see.
