You have found yet another sport I've not seen before.
And again some lovely blue sky, we have rain and grey cloud.
Colour me slightly green with envy over here.
I'm finding the sand looks a little washed out here, since my monitor is calibrated I don't think it's my end ... is shooting scenes like this the same as shooting snow, where you need to adjust the exposure a bit to retain the highlight detail?

yes we got some loverly blue in the sky this last week
this was my first attempt at taking photos in the sand and im really new to photography
the sun was really bright on this day and bouncing off the sand
im going again tomorrow so any help would be really appreciated

I would try -2/3 to maybe -1 stop of exposure compensation.
If you shoot RAW then you can experiment on the computer and simulate the exposure changes, if you shoot JPEG then you're out of luck, once it's gone it's gone.

so always shoot with raw+jpg L?
