View Full Version : mjs1973 Congratulations!!! Alison 12-04-2007, 03:08 PM mjs1973 Congratulations on your photo project win for November!!! mjs1973 12-04-2007, 03:33 PM WOW! Thanks Alison! I'll PM you my address so you know where to send my prize. I thought I read somewhere that the November project winner would get a 40D and an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS, or was it the 600mm f/4? Either way, I'll get you my address. ;) If anyone in interested, here are the specs on this image. It was shot in Manual Mode, ISO 200, shutter speed of .4 seconds @f/8. Camera used is 300D (original DRebel), lens 24-70mm f/2.8L @ 60mm. The two leaves in the BG are laying on a piece of black velvet. The red leaf in the FG is resting on top of my stack of extension tubes to help separate it from the other leaves. I sprayed all of the leaves with a little water. They were lit from the right, using a light box for viewing slides, and some white foam core board on the left as a reflector. OldSchool 12-04-2007, 03:36 PM Nice job Mike. Thanks for what went into making the photo. I always enjoy reading about the motivation and process. Cheers, Tim Frog 12-04-2007, 03:49 PM Good job, Mike. Hope some people look and see what kind of work is involved with taking a shot like that. readingr 12-04-2007, 10:40 PM Mike, Excellent shot and well deserved - I thought everyone wins a 40D... still waiting for mine and Alison has my address  Roger Alison 12-04-2007, 11:25 PM Oh dear. I thought the 40D I received was for me! I didn't realise it was the prize! Sorry guys. :D mjs1973 12-05-2007, 04:23 AM Thanks everyone! One other thing I forgot to mention. I believe I used the Orton Imagery technique (http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0106/dw0106-1.html) on this image as well. Old Timer 12-05-2007, 04:32 AM Nice going Mike. A well deserved honor. Remember it is a rotating crown you have to pass it on to the next months winner. another view 12-05-2007, 05:42 AM The two leaves in the BG are laying on a piece of black velvet. Using stuff that's laying around to create a great image - nice job! Hadn't thought about using a light box as a light source but it makes perfect sense seeing as it's a soft, diffused source and color corrected. (The word "duh" comes to mind!). JETA 12-06-2007, 10:29 AM Congrats Mike! Thank you for posting your specs. I was sitting here wishing I had the guts to ask you how you shot the winning photo and you posted it! How very kind of you! Congrats again!
