View Full Version : Why I Own Guns... Speed 11-27-2007, 04:48 AM AKA, my daughters. Any questions? MJS 11-27-2007, 04:58 AM I had no idea Speed, they're beauties. I've already posted my reasons for my Glock and various shotguns. My little one qualified expert at summer camp with a .22 single shot two years ago. She's pretty good with our Daisy single pump pistol. another view 11-27-2007, 05:05 AM FOUR daughters? No wonder you're shooting weddings, it'll save that cost four times over the years. :D I can see why you have guns! Dylan8i 11-27-2007, 06:06 AM Any questions? how old are they? :D no but really, they are beautiful, i really like the background it really works, esp for a set of portraits like that. Old Timer 11-27-2007, 06:07 AM Why aren't they the subject of more of your photographs? Beautiful gals Speed, keep the guns loaded and close at hand. I_Fly 11-27-2007, 06:16 AM Speed, You need to keep practicing at the range my friend. With four beautiful daughters like that, you have got to have your hands full! I can see why you and the lovely Dawn are studying martial arts also. With those four, it may come down to hand to hand combat to fight the guys off! :) OldSchool 11-27-2007, 08:39 AM Was it Mel Gibson who said that he would shoot the first boyfriend that came knocking on his door -- and then let the word get around? :^0 ! Tim p.s. Quite a handsome family there. Speed 11-27-2007, 10:11 AM I had no idea Speed, they're beauties. I've already posted my reasons for my Glock and various shotguns. My little one qualified expert at summer camp with a .22 single shot two years ago. She's pretty good with our Daisy single pump pistol. Yep, now you know. Two shotguns, four handguns, and seven rifles. Oh yeah, Dawn owns the biggest gun in the house! She has a .45 auto. And I don't count hers in my gun count... Glock makes a good gun. ;-) Speed 11-27-2007, 10:13 AM "No wonder you're shooting weddings, it'll save that cost four times over the years." :D Actually, that thought hadn't even crossed my mind. "I can see why you have guns!" Hehehe. Indeed. Speed 11-27-2007, 10:16 AM Young enough to kill a man over. ;-) I have guns, shovels, and acreage behind the house... "no but really, they are beautiful, i really like the background it really works, esp for a set of portraits like that." Thank you, thank you! Speed 11-27-2007, 10:18 AM Why aren't they the subject of more of your photographs? Beautiful gals Speed, keep the guns loaded and close at hand. Because they aren't camera hounds. We have to set a date to take photo's. This time, we took them after Thanksgiving dinner. And the guns are kept close at hand... Speed 11-27-2007, 10:30 AM "You need to keep practicing at the range my friend. With four beautiful daughters like that, you have got to have your hands full!" If you only knew. You are so lucky to have a son. I have a son. He's the oldest, and right now he's in basic training at Lackland AFB. As for the range practice, I shot two deer in five seconds last year, and I've aleady shot my first deer this year. I love my .30-06 with 165 grain ballistic tips. :-D "I can see why you and the lovely Dawn are studying martial arts also. With those four, it may come down to hand to hand combat to fight the guys off!" :) I must admit, it is funny when the oldest tells her boyfriends: "My mom and dad are both black belts, and don't be surprised if my dad is cleaning his guns when we get to the house." They arrive with fear and trembling. Dawn says there is a fine line between fear and respect, and she doesn't care which side of the line they are on! Speed 11-27-2007, 10:32 AM "Was it Mel Gibson who said that he would shoot the first boyfriend that came knocking on his door -- and then let the word get around?" Works for me! "p.s. Quite a handsome family there." Thank you Tim! I_Fly 11-27-2007, 10:44 AM They arrive with fear and trembling. Dawn says there is a fine line between fear and respect, and she doesn't care which side of the line they are on! That made me laugh! Anyone who can test for a black belt with broken bones has my total respect!!! I didn't know your son had joined the Air Force. Good for him. From what you've said, he's got a good head on his shoulders and should do well. Speed 11-27-2007, 11:19 AM "That made me laugh!" She's a practical woman! "Anyone who can test for a black belt with broken bones has my total respect!!!" Yeah, and the boyfriends don't even know that little detail. Then they would be afraid. "I didn't know your son had joined the Air Force. Good for him. From what you've said, he's got a good head on his shoulders and should do well." We are hoping he will do very well. So far, he's gotten the highest grades in his class on his tests. I guess taking Navy JROTC and having a father who's ex-Air Force, might have helped him a little. MB1 11-27-2007, 12:40 PM Nice looking kids, I say take them to the range with you. Back on subject, the group photo is ok but the individual shots really bring out a lot of character. They seem very comfortable and natural posing for you. GB1 11-27-2007, 01:53 PM Looks like a bunch of mall rats getting ready to go to a chick flick movie :D -gb Skyman 11-27-2007, 03:24 PM :p Shoot to still, not to kill!:p Take photos of all prospective suitors and when they ask why, reply cryptically "In case the court requires them" Asylum Steve 11-27-2007, 03:57 PM AKA, my daughters. Any questions? I'm not going near this one. I'm assuming besides guns, you also have a car... :D Extremely lovely young ladies... schrackman 11-27-2007, 07:41 PM I'm with ya all the way, Robert! Keep them boys SCARED. lol JETA 11-27-2007, 08:15 PM Guns are a good thing when you have gorgeous daughters like that! JSPhoto 11-27-2007, 09:14 PM AKA, my daughters. Any questions? Plenty of questions.... but I'll stop there :p some were already answered :D (and they are all too young for me anyway) I will say they are Beeeautiful.... and the younger blonde reminds me of one of my high school girlfriends. Her dad owned guns too, and so did her mom. In fact her mother pulled us over one night while we were out... yeah, her parents were cops! Considering I was known in 10 counties by all the police it was definately awkward on the first meeting of her parents, they knew me as soon as I pulled in the driveway, and it didn't help when pops mentioned the coroner lived next door, to which his daughter said "John knows, he used to go out whith his daughter too" :p Nothing like looking at photos of dead people at the dinner table  Anyway the fact I drove a 69 GTO Judge Ram Air IV 400 that shook the house didn't help matters, or doing wheelies in the parking lot at school. JS Greg McCary 11-28-2007, 02:26 AM It might be a good idea to do away with all of your phone services and internet. At least until they are in their 30's.LOL. Nice shooting. Speed 11-28-2007, 04:16 AM Nice looking kids, I say take them to the range with you. Back on subject, the group photo is ok but the individual shots really bring out a lot of character. They seem very comfortable and natural posing for you. Thanks MB1. I think all of them have gone shooting with me at some time. And I think they've all fired some of my guns. Character they have! They've posed enough for me in the past, that it's no big deal for them. I am fortunate to have such lovely models... Speed 11-28-2007, 04:24 AM "getting ready to go to a chick flick movie" :D We don't have a mall in Carteret County...but they do love their chick flicks! ;-) Speed 11-28-2007, 04:29 AM But dead men tell no tales Skyman! "Take photos of all prospective suitors and when they ask why, reply cryptically "In case the court requires them"" I actually took photo's (front and profile) of my oldest daughter's first boyfriend. He laughed about it, but I'm sure it planted the neccesary seed in his mind. :-O When you own cameras and guns and mention that you're going to shoot someone, well, it's good to let their imagination run wild... Speed 11-28-2007, 04:32 AM "I'm assuming besides guns, you also have a car..." :D Two cars and a boat! The Great Dismal Swamp is a great place to get lost, or lose something. I also hear bouy 13 is a popular place for dumping bodies.... Just rumor mind you. I wouldn't know firsthand - yet. "Extremely lovely young ladies..." Thanks Steve! Speed 11-28-2007, 04:35 AM "Keep them boys SCARED." Scared, afraid, terrified, night terrors, it's all the same to me. ;-) Speed 11-28-2007, 04:37 AM "when you have gorgeous daughters like that!" Thanks JETA! That's my line of thinking as well. ;-) Speed 11-28-2007, 04:41 AM Plenty of questions.... but I'll stop there :p some were already answered :D (and they are all too young for me anyway) I will say they are Beeeautiful.... and the younger blonde reminds me of one of my high school girlfriends. Both of her parents were cops?! And the coroner lived next door - how convenient. You drove a 69 GTO? I'll bet the cops did know you! Thanks for the comments - and the story. :-D Speed 11-28-2007, 04:42 AM "with all of your phone services and internet. At least until they are in their 30's.LOL. Nice shooting." If it was only that simple... Thanks Greg! JSPhoto 11-28-2007, 05:55 AM Oh man, you had it ROUGH! Both of her parents were cops?! And the coroner lived next door - how convenient. You drove a 69 GTO? I'll bet the cops did know you! Thanks for the comments - and the story. :-D Too convenient  Yeah, I made a living racing for titles, it was hard on my parents yard, at one point I had 28 that I had won, and never went out without at least $5000 in my pocket, not bad for a high school kid in the late 70's :D I never lost in that car, and even beat a 67 Vette in my other beast, a 1966 Olds Delta 88 with a 455 in it. A battleship on wheels and steroids :) Never got caught either (by the parents either)....ahhh, the good old days. JS Asylum Steve 11-28-2007, 05:55 AM I also hear bouy 13 is a popular place for dumping bodies.... Just rumor mind you. I wouldn't know firsthand - yet... LOL! Good one! Funny. As in...uh, a JOKE! Heh heh... Ah, Speed. My buddy. My best friend. Always. Right???? Er, right????? :( :cryin: Speed 11-28-2007, 07:27 AM Ah, Speed. My buddy. My best friend. Always. Right???? Er, right????? :( :cryin: Of course Steve. You will always be my best friend! opus 11-28-2007, 07:38 AM "You are so lucky to have a son." uh ... I have a son ... he's going to try to go out with the daughters of gun owners ... yeah, I'm scared! Speed 11-28-2007, 10:45 AM he's going to try to go out with the daughters of gun owners ... yeah, I'm scared! No need to be scared. Just teach him to be polite, respectful, and celibate. Hehehe. Seriously though, he could just date ugly girls... :-O For the record, I have yet to shoot one of my daughters boyfriends. Meaning, I'm a nice guy. Really, my kids friends think I'm great. ;-) Speed 11-29-2007, 04:24 AM Daddy's little girls... Speed 11-29-2007, 04:35 AM This is one of the youngest daughter's classmates. His mother works with me, and she spent the Thanksgiving holiday in the hospital. So he stayed with us for five days. For the record, he and my youngest are best friends. I had him help me sharpen my bush ax and my machete one day. When I cut my finger on the machete, he got nervous. After all, who sharpens a machete that sharp? A protective father?? ;-) Needless to say, he was a perfect gentleman... I_Fly 11-29-2007, 06:46 AM Nice shots Speed. I think that last shot is especially great. They look like they were having a blast. It's got to be great for his self-esteem to have such a bevy of beautiful friends. The shots of you with your daughters are nice also. The youngest seems to have a natural posing instinct for having her portrait made. Alison 04-02-2008, 01:31 PM I can't believe I missed this post! Your daughters are gorgeous! And your youngest is 13?! My goodness! She looks alot older! I thought she was at least 16/17. adina 04-02-2008, 04:06 PM Ack! Who is that creepy old man with those girls!?! I thought you said you scared those ones away? oh wait...is that you? Ummm....nevermind... :D brmill26 04-02-2008, 05:09 PM Speed - you have a beautiful family! The pictures and the location are wonderful as well. Better keep those guns loaded... ;) MJS 04-02-2008, 05:12 PM Adina, I'd stick up for Speed, but I can't help it if you have good eyes. Speed 04-03-2008, 04:39 AM Your daughters are gorgeous! And your youngest is 13?! My goodness! She looks alot older! I thought she was at least 16/17. I can't believe you missed it either! Aren't you glad you came across it though? ;-) Thank you for the kind words. I have been blessed to have such a good looking family. And they all look older than they are. Just one more reason why I own guns. For the good of the public, you understand. Speed 04-03-2008, 04:43 AM Ack! Who is that creepy old man with those girls!?! I thought you said you scared those ones away? oh wait...is that you? Ummm....nevermind... :D Adina, I can't believe you would cut me like that. Wait a minute, this is Adina...of course you're going to take a shot at me... Good one! :-D Overbeyond 04-03-2008, 05:19 AM Just cannot believe what I'm reading in this thread. You have four young daughters so you load your house with guns to protect them!? They look old enough so why not just give them a gun each for their handbags or maybe that has been already dealt with. I shudder to even think further on this ..... gracie_r 04-03-2008, 07:08 AM Ha, ha, you sound like my DH. He can't wait to be sitting there cleaning his guns when the first boy shows up. He says his line is going to be "You know boy, I ain't afraid to go back to prison". He's never been to prison. It's great that your daughters are so photogenic. Seems like so many teens hate having their pictures taken. Especially the girls! They are very pretty. Ballen Photo 04-03-2008, 08:05 AM What a gorgeous group of girls. You can be very proud. :D BTW, When it comes to the ownership of a gun to fend the boys off, it just doesn't work. Trust me, they will still come, albeit a bit more respectful. Don't ask how I know this. :mad2: BTW, The Grandkids are great. -Bruce Speed 04-03-2008, 10:10 AM What a gorgeous group of girls. Don't ask how I know this. :mad2: BTW, The Grandkids are great. -Bruce Thank you Bruce! As for the boys, you are right - they will come. Whether they come respectful, afraid, uneasy, it doesn't matter to me. There is sometimes a fine line between fear and respect and I really don't care which side they are on. When one shows up without any fear or respect, then there's going to bo trouble! You are right - grandkids are great! Our first, and so far only, grandchild is nearly 17 months old and he's much more fun than the kids were! Speed 04-03-2008, 12:49 PM Speed - you have a beautiful family! If they mess with my daughters... Actually, the oldest girl is only 18, so they can't legally carry a concealed handgun - yet! But that is an excellent idea for their 21st birthdays. ;-) Speed 04-03-2008, 12:59 PM Ha, ha, you sound like my DH. He can't wait to be sitting there cleaning his guns when the first boy shows up.
