Nice sharpness to the head/eye/beak. Love that gloomy, moody sky!

You've been capturing excellent photos!

Thanks guys , i was lucky to get a nice majestic pose from this guy. This is a full frame with just a slight crop of one side to get rid of a few branches, i used my 70-300mm with a 1.4 X Kenko TC.

I'm fascinated by raptors and wonder how you and others catch these great creatures. I see them frequently while driving, When I stop and try to approach they are taking off. Is it just a matter of trial and error, slow approach or do you often find they are willing to wait for you?

Outstanding work Glenn. I hope that one day I get an opportunity like this and nail it just like you did. Simply incredible.

Jaedon, Cassie1 , thanks for taking the time :) Mule i only wish it was as easy as it was this time . I just got out of my truck and just walked right up to him and he just stayed there giving me a look . About one in ten will give me a good pose before they hightail it away LOL . Im hoping on getting a 500mm next summer hoping it will help.

PS : it helps to wear a hat with a big rim and mice dangling from it:D

Knight, great image. All our raptors have gone south for the winter, in fact just about everything except, crows, magpies and sparrows are gone - oh well, it is mid November. :D

Cheers,

WesternGuy

WesternGuy , your Raptors leave for the winter , ours mostly stay the winter. Im hoping to see some Owls this year .the last time i saw one was 2 years ago. Here,s another from the same shoot but i added a slight sunlight filter in CS.
