sorry that's as close as I could get without them whizzing away and not getting my camera wet...i was about 8 ft away under a canopy in pouring(semi) rain plus it was a manual focus(can we say blind)
anyway a tight crop same image....

Not bad at all!!!!
Looks like a ruby throated hummingbird (but what do I know? Birds aren't my thing). Gorgeous colors. D70, of course? What lens?

yes it is a RUBY-THROATED hummingbird( and a MALE) ...... hard to believe huh, since it's the only INDIGINOUS hummingbird in the EASTERN HALF of the US ;) hahaha "you think you know birds? Paul knows birds"

just so you know in the future..... "pet" hummingbirds are very aproachable with patience and stealth :) stand very still and one may even fill the frame on that 105 :D
