OK, I have one more question regarding lenses, before purchasing my Nikon D80. Since I already have a brand new Nikkor 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6D-ED AF lens, I want to get the D80 with another lens. So, which one of these two lenses might be a better second alternative?

105mm f/2.8 macro close up .... or ... 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF

Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again for your input.

I think the 28-200mm would be my choice. If not it would leave you without a wider, walk around, lens.

28 isn't very wide on a DSLR, and you'll have overlap between 70 and 200mm. Personally I'd look for something wider; they have quite a few that start at 18mm which would be a huge difference - such as the 18-55, 18-70 and 18-135. I haven't shot with it but heard very good things about the 18-55 based on the low price of it.

Unless you really have need for a great macro lens (which the 105 is), I'd pass on that for now. It's really a specialty lens.

I would suggest something with that begins with 18 also so you'll have something wider.
I have the 18-135 which I'm quite happy with but that would give you a lot of overlap so probably the 18-55 or 18-70..
