When I open a RAW file in CS2, the RAW dialog box opens, shows the picture on the left. But the only thing I can do to it is an exposure setting or white balance. My understanding of the RAW dialog box is you should be able to do all sorts of "editing".
I don't know what I need to do to get the correct raw dialog box?
Any help would be greatly appreciated here .....
THANKS !!!

It's been awile since I used it and lost the plug-in with a computer crash, but I think it's pretty basic. I think what you have is all you get. You might try finding a copy of Raw Shooter, it's free but won't work on the newer E510 Raw files.
I can do temperature, tint, exposure, shadows, brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, luminance shooting, color noise reduction, and white balance with elements 5.0.
I'd think you should be able to do all that +.

The benefit of the Raw plug-in is that all edits done are lossless. Think of the Exposure and Shadows sliders as course adjustments, and Brightness and Contrast as fine-tuning. Also, if you hold down the Alt key (Mac: Option) while adjusting the sliders, the preview switches, showing those pixels that are clipped in one, two, or all three color channels.
By Photoshop standards, the edits are indeed basic. If you click through the tabs, you can find adjustments for sharpening, color noise, and vignetting, but it's really about the basics, and being able to open the image as a 16 bit file.

You installed some of the older Nikon software I bet... Capture 4, PictureProject, NikonView etc. right?
The Nikon plugin overrides standard Adobe Camera Raw. Remove the plugin and ACR will take over. Capture NX and ViewNX do not put in a plugin anymore.

Had that happen with my Coopix 5000 + Photoshop CS when an old version of Nikon View was installed. You should be all set!
