Yep, another shot from this spot. I don't know what it is but, there's something about this location I just love to shoot. Of course, new cam means I had to shoot it some more...LOL I really liked how this one turned out though.

It is a beautiful spot allright but in this image I feel the sky lets you down. The clouds and the blue sky look too similar in this B&W. OTOH the ground and trees are nearly perfectly exposed.

Did you use a split ND filter? Also a red filter will really pop the sky when you are shooting B&W.

This is one where I would really like to see it shot when the sun is low in the sky at your back-in color of course.

Thanks MB :) No filters used. I don't have any to fit the Rollei or Yashica. Actually, I just got a yellow and green filters in today. If you see any Rollei red or orange Bay 1 filters let me know :D The sky in the straight negative scan is more blown out than this. I did some levels adjustment and added some vignetting which helped bring out a little cloud detail. I brought my Yashica out with me as well with some color film in it and I took a few at this spot. I'll post some color ones next week after I have the film developed.

If you are going to shoot B&W film you gotta use your filters. You can always just buy the filters without holders and hand hold them over the front of the lens.

I know, I know :o I'm finally getting the hang of shooting straight no filter and how my meter and film react for given conditions. It's time to start playing around a bit more. I'm going to make up a shooting log on my next day off to keep better track of and fine tune what I'm doing.

Aaron - Not sure if my eyes are too tired tonight because this is the third posting in a row that I feel might be too dark in critical places. I find the most interesting part to be the large log floating in the water, and also the middle area trees. But to me the water area is awful dark.. I can't really see much of what's happening. The detail on the trees is nice - I'd like to see this same shot with some snow on the trees etc. In a few months maybe..

Hi GB. The foreground in the negative is better. I did some quick adjustments to add more definition to the sky but, darkened that area in the process. It's not too bad like this at full resolution but, the resize looses a bit of the detail. I really need to sit down more with dodge and burn tools in Photoshop :o
