This was a smoke house located on the property of a very nice elderly couple in PA.

not experienced enough to offer a true critique i suppose but i think that this has real character. it looks as though someone still goes there to dry the jerky or whatever. perhaps some turkey. preferably for this vegetarian, some nice alaskan or north west salmon.

perhaps the old couple themselves going to/and or from would add something. i am one though that doesn't feel it necessary for people to be in a shot (shame on me) to make it a good one.

would be very interested to see it in black and white, having already discussed my preference for that genre.

perhaps something that good old jack daniels would have preferred.

I don't know how you do it.

I mean honestly even with cloudy skies unattractive skies you just make it work amazingly. I'm always left speechless looking at captures like this.

But I must say I think it's gorgeous. I wouldn't change a thing.

Gary your images are just too difficult to critique. When the standard is so consistantly high it is hard to come up with words that have not been used before and the avoidance of cliche is difficult.
I am now a four or five year old waiting for my favourite nursery book character to appear in this scene which has charm and innocence written all over it. We are in the world of the little people and their imagination.
Add to this all the technical excellence which somehow seems irrelevent.

This is VERY nice Gary! Definitely my favorite of yours as of late. Just curious, do you have any more shots of this location, maybe pulled back some? Not that I would change this one just that this location seems like it would have so many possibilities. Once again Gary, well done :thumbsup:

Nice shot Gary, has a lot of whimsy. No technical critiques...maybe slight angle from the left to add more of front ..?

Very well composed, illuminated, and technically delivered shot Gary. It works so well, just letting the house be a house. Everything seems to support it well. The colors are pretty to me - the purple smoke is a plus imo. If I were cropping, I might take a tad off the bottom -- Otherwise, perfect.

I did not expect to get such a good feedback from this one, but pleasantly surprised. I am very glad I decided to post it after going back and forth with it for a few months now.
There was alot of editing done with this shot. the sky was overcast and blank, there was a modern day folding chair between the tree and the house, and the lighting was very dull and flat. I took out the chair, dodged and burned to achieve a more dramatic light, and filled in the sky with a bit of texture.
I don't think it's quite identifiable in this web version, but the figure on the barrel is a statue of a Leprechaun sittin and looking up at the sky. It is readily noticeable in print and makes for a more interesting scene.
