I am new to this forum and to digital cameras. I recently purchased a Canon Powershot 570IS. It seem to work fine. I purchased new DURACELL 1800 mAh rechargable NiMH batteries with a charger. I charged them in the charger actually twice. Howeer almost as soon as the camera is turned on the symbol of a battery begins to flash on the LCD screen I assume indicating that the batteries are low. Has anyone had this expereince before with this camera or other cameras? I wonder if this is a battery problem or is this a defect in the camera battery monitoring system. Any suggetions?

Have you tried putting some Alkaline batteries in (fully charged) to see if the same thing happens which will narrow down to battery/ charger. Then try a different charger to narrow down battery/ charger issues.

I have had DOA chargers and batteries before now.
