I used an SLR for years and finally went with a Canon A60. I love this digital camera but have a concern with it. I went to photo my son doing some showing off with a girl. I clicked the shutter and at the same time he saw me and turned his head. Due to the delay of the shutter, it did not take the picture until he turned around. Uggg! Anyway, I played with an S3 and did not notice a delay. Am I right? I'm looking to find a digital with no delay but not sure I need to go with a DSLR. Any opinions are appreciated.

I'm yet to see a point and shoot that will give you the responsiveness of a DSLR. It's one of the primary reasons I upgraded and I'm not at all unhappy that I did.

Shutter lag is very bad on most prosumer compact cameras and some DSLR's. If you hate it the answer is get a DSLR. Any Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Sigma or Fuji one I have tried would be fine.
